Ocean’s Eight

v1

It’s all about the ladies. This film was one of those ideas that people weren’t sure of. I do understand where their concern did lie. However, from trailer to watching this film, I didn’t see the big fuss over the lady driven spin-off. I thought they did an excellent job. I mean it wasn’t a full remake… it was a spin-off. It was a nod to the original.

The first thing that I really liked about this movie was the cast of leading ladies it had in it. I mean Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rhianna! Everyone in this cast was great and they all played their parts well. I could not have been happier with all the wonderful actors in this movie. Another thing I really liked was how easy it was to watch this movie. There was nothing really hard to understand. You understood the whole plot of the movie and you understood what was needed to happen in order for them to complete their mission. I also really liked Anne Hathaway’s crazy performance. Her over acting is great. I loved every second of her characters ego and “yea I’m famous” attitude.

Overall I really did enjoy this movie. I was very much satisfied. I think I want them to make another. If they can make 3 movies with George Clooney and Brad Pitt, then they can make another one of these. I really hope that they do.

Here’s one more picture of Cate Blanchett for fun.

Exciting Upcoming Movies

Hi Everyone! Happy 4th! I hope everyone is bbq-ing and having a great time today.

On one of today’s postings, I want to share some movie trailers of upcoming movies that are coming out later this year. There are many exciting movies coming out later, and I’m sure things will just keep getting better and better. But for right now… on with the show!

First Movie: Bohemian Rhapsody- Release Date: November 2nd

mv5bndg2njixmduynf5bml5banbnxkftztgwmzeznte1ntm-_v1_ux182_cr00182268_al_

Now this movie is something I a SUPER excited about. Ever since I heard about it, I thought… it’s about time! Freddie and the men of Queen deserved a movie long ago. The most exciting thing about this movie is how much Rami Malek looks like Freddie. It’s almost creepy how much he looks like him. Rami has become one of my favorite actors. The way he plays Elliot in Mr. Robot is phenomenal. You can’t stop watching.

There are a few things that I have heard that they might not be including in this movie. One of them is his bisexuality. The other being a downplay of his AIDS diagnosis. That’s what I’ve heard. It would suck that they wouldn’t include things and aspects of his life that made him who he was. He was a great talent who died young of a horrific disease that killed so many back then. But with that being said about what I’ve heard, I am going to wave judgment until I actually see the movie. What has been said could be totally wrong. Who knows.

Now please enjoy the trailer:

Second Movie: Eighth Grade- Release Date: July 13th

mv5bmtu4njkzotawmv5bml5banbnxkftztgwodgwnjmwntm-_v1_ux182_cr00182268_al_

I just heard about this movie about a week ago and I am very interested in seeing it. What caught my eye about this movie, one, was who directed and wrote this movie. If you don’t know, it’s Bo Burnham. I was aware that he had many talents, but I wasnt aware, that he had ALL the talents. Comedian, musician, writer, actor, director! Is there anything he can’t do? I’m he has the powers to master anything.

Back to the movie and the trailer. It is about a shy girl in the last few weeks of her eighth grade year (hence the name) trying to become more outspoken and try to connect more to people in this awkward time of life. I know that I remember what it was like at that age. I was so weird and still trying desperately to figure life and myself out. I am excited to see how that time is portraied on screen. Most coming of age movies deal with high school, which is an important time, but i find it’s really not as influential as that final year of middle school. It’s refreshing to have a movie like that that deals with the issues before high school.

Now enjoy this trailer:

Solo: A Star Wars Story

solo-theatrical-poster_f98a86eb

One of the biggest and most anticipated movies of the year. This movie didn’t even come out that long ago and I feel like it should be out on Bluray and Dvd already. So much has come out since then, but that’s not the point. The point is what I thought about the movie. I feel like there is a lot to say and yet not at the same time. So here it goes…

I saw this the weekend it came out. Was I excited? Yes and No. I was excited to see what they would do with Han Solo’s origin story. I wasn’t excited because I wasn’t as excited by the trailers for it. I was also getting annoyed with Disney’s marketing plan of “LET’S PUT IT EVERYWHERE!” You couldn’t go or watch anything without seeing something for this movie. Doesn’t Disney know that Star Wars, in general, will get people to see the movie? They could Star Wars on the end of anything and people will see it, me included. Now, I am not a die-hard Star Wars fan, but I will go and see them. The franchise is very entertaining and the original three are awesome.

…Back to the movie. The design of the movie was very nice. The different worlds felt real and brought you more of the universe. I thought, with what he had to work with, Alden Ehrenreich was a good Han Solo. What he had to work with? Well, script-wise he didn’t have much to work with and I’m sure how each scene was laid out didn’t help either. When I picture Han Solo, I picture a sarcastic guy who does whatever he to get what he wants. In this movie, I didn’t get that at all. He was stale and acted like a “typical guy.” He wasn’t sarcastic at all. Not one bit! I was so disappointed. I guess no one can really even come close to Harrison Ford.

The rest of the script was fine. It was like every Star Wars film, fun yet not great. I was still entertained. One of the big things that I didn’t like was the editing of this film. The way they did it and the way it was shot was odd and at sometimes it hurt to watch. The camera would move so fast that you almost go motion sickness. It was just too much.

I know that there are a lot of negatives, but two things saved this film. The big one was Donald Glover. First, I love this guy. So, in that way, I am slightly biased. I could just watch a screen of his face for an hour and be satisfied. I really really liked his portrayal of Lando. He was able to bring his own spin on the character while still keeping the original personality brought by Billy Dee Williams. I just thoroughly enjoyed him on screen. I also really liked his droid. I liked their banter and the way they interacted with each other.

Overall I was somewhat satisfied. I will admit that I left the theater feeling “meh.” It took me a while to gather all my thoughts about what I had just seen. I would see it again, give it another chance. Perhaps rewatching it, there will be things that I missed and that I might appreciate more. If not I will least enjoy Donald Glover some more.

Let me know what you thought of the movie. I would love to hear your opinion.

The Incredibles 2

Pssst! Hey! If you didn’t guess what I was going to talk about today…mv5bmteznzy0otg0ntdeqtjeqwpwz15bbwu4mdu3otg3mjuz-_v1_ux182_cr00182268_al_

That’s right! THE INCREDIBLES 2!!! This is the movie most “younger” adults have been waiting for for the past 14 years. Guess what, I am one of them. I was so excited when it was announced, when the first teaser trailer came out, and when it finally came out 2 weeks ago.

1045532-pixar-revisits-parr-family-incredibles-2

Now part of me was skeptical. How could you top something that was so great or come close to it? Well, if you haven’t… GET YOUR ASS OUT THERE AND SEE IT!

I did say I was a little skeptical in the beginning, but that all went away. I have already seen this movie twice. Not only was it great for kids, but there was that adult humor that Pixar is great at sneaking in there. I am not going to give anything away (or at least as best to my ability).

The movie starts out where we left off at the end of the first one. You get to see the Parr family try to work together to defeat the Underminer. Throughout the movie, the story is laid in front of you very nicely. You understood what everyone was going through, what they felt in different situations and how they reacted. All your favorite cast of characters were back. My favorite part was definitely Edna and Jack-Jack. (side note: there should be a short film just about those two.) Those two together was awesome! I will state that it wasn’t a big part of the film, but for those few minutes that those two were on the screen together, it was entertaining and fun.

incredibles-2-edna-mode

After seeing this, you can see how hard everyone worked on it. The animation has only improved over the last 14 years. The way they move and their body reactions only look more realistic. This movie has most of its original voice actors, it’s like they never left. I think they all waited for this one to come around so they can continue to be apart of something so special.

Overall I would say it was “on par” (haha get it? on par… the Parr family?) with the original. It kept the same funny lightheartedness as the first one, yet was able to show and talk about some difficult lessons. It is something for the whole family. If your someone around my age (28ish…) and you have a family, take your kids. Honestly. Enjoy it with them. Have that moment with them where you are just as excited and happy as they are. Watch the first one and then so and see this. You will not be disappointed.

The Start of Something New

hello

Hi Everyone!

This is my first post. I am not really good at words and things, but I am going to do my best.

The point of this website is to talk about movies. All types (…okay, most types) of movies. I’m sure that you are aware of that by the title of this site. I know that you must be thinking, “Who is this girl? Why is she here? What does she know about movies and the entertainment industry in general?” Well, to answer those questions, I’m not really anybody. I love movies. I love the escapism they can bring, as well as the harsh reality that they can throw at you at a moments notice. I don’t live anywhere near Hollywood or anywhere where they make films on a regular basis. I am here because in recent months I have noticed a real interesting disconnect between what critics say and what actual people think. Sure, there are some movies where I agree with what the critics say, but most of the time I don’t understand why they say what they say. Now mind you, I have no training in the film industry, but the whole point of a film is to entertain the people who watch it. Right? That must be the whole point. So critics state a movie sucks because some things in the movie aren’t done “well.” Yet most of the people who see it won’t notice whatever the critics said that made it bad. You can see that something might be off in a movie, but you still leave the theater happy and satisfied. With that said, I try to wait to give my opinion on a movie until I’ve seen it, without really seeing what the critics say.

Now after my small little rant here is what I want to do with this blog. First I want to talk/ review films that I see in the theater. Not only that but movies I haven’t seen at all. That means old movies, new movies, tv movies, cable movies, everything. For some of that, I will need your help. If you have a movie you want me to talk about. I will watch it and let you know what I think.

I also want to talk about upcoming films being talked about or just announced. Trailers are big for me as well. I like trailers. I can tell you what I am excited to see and why.

Another thing I want to do is compare movies: genres, remakes, actors performances, etc. For this, I could also use your help, to think up different categories for me to go through. I will tell you now that I do have some in mind that I am excited to share with you.

I hope that you will come on this journey with me and have a good time.
