This was a interesting take on Robin Hood, and you know what I didn’t hate it. So I really don’t agree with the rotten tomatoes score. I wasn’t thrilled with it, but it surely wasn’t a “15%” movie. The audience score was better, and that I agree with more. I was entertained and it kept my attention for the full length of the movie. I wasn’t going into this movie thinking that it was going to be the greatest thing and go into my top ten movies, but it did its job of being entertaining and I liked it.
The first thing that really liked was the actors in this movie. I thought they did a good job portraying them and diving into the characters psyche. It also looked like the actors all got along with each other. I must also admit that I really enjoyed Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, and Jamie Dornan were all in this movie… they are just nice to look at.
The other aspect of the film that I liked was the way that the story was told. It was different than past Robin Hoods. It was grittier with more up close action. I do also appreciate that they showed Robin in the Crusades, giving him more backstory into becoming the thief we know and love. I am also happy that they put some humor and some banter in the movie.
There were a few things that I did have problems with. There was, I thought a few pacing issues. I also wished that we had the chance for him to steal more from the sheriff and the rich. We didn’t get a chance for us to really see the character growing fully to his potential. I wanted to see more and learn from about some of the characters. Like what was the issue with WIll and why his he so hesitant about doing what is needed to be done? I want these things explained to me, please! Slight spoiler… but I didn’t like that the bad guy (besides the sheriff) was not who I thought it was, and that person wasn’t in the original story.
Overall I did enjoy the movie and would see it again. I won’t actively reach for it, but when in the mood perhaps it will come of the movie shelf.

Here are today’s movies that I am excited for. Enjoy!
First: The Lion King- Release Date: July 7th
Now, this trailer… okay it’s not really a full trailer, but still, I’m very excited! First thing is that it looks almost identical to the original opening of the animated movie. I know that they did that on purpose, but still, that took a lot for them to try and copy it frame for frame.
I am both really excited and skeptical. I love the original so much (grew up with it) and they have a lot to live up to. I am super happy that they got James Earl Jones back as Mufasa. I think there would have been rioting if they didn’t get him back for the role. There are others that I am also excited to see in this movie, Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Keegan-Michael Key, and John Oliver. There are some that I am not as happy with, but I will save judgment until the full trailer or the actual movie.
Next: Vice- Release Date: December 28th
This just looks like it is going to be an interesting look on Dick Chaney and his time in the white house. It looks kind of humorous and thrilling. I am really curious because of how these real live people are being portrayed. This wasn’t even that long ago. I mean, I remember the Bush presidency pretty well, so this is going to be something to see. Christian Bales as Dick Chaney alone will get me to see this. He looks barely like himself, it was hard for me to even know that it’s him. Perhaps award season for this movie? Who knows? We will find out soon enough.
Finally: On the Basis of Sex- Release Date: December 28th
I am so so so so excited about this. This is going to be one epic movie about an epic woman who has done so much in her lifetime and still continues to do good. After seeing her recent documentary (review coming soon), I really wanted another look at her life and the cases that she has won. I also think that Felicity Jones was the perfect casting choice. This could be another award season contender? Again we will find out soon enough.

This is one of those movies where I wish I was around when it first came out. But unfortunately, I was not yet a thought in my parents’ heads. I, like Marty, want to go back in time to the past and see and experience things that I would not have the chance to otherwise. I can only imagine being in the theater for the first time wondering what will be the full story of this movie. Unfortunately, time travel is not real (or is it?). So I like most of my generation, and those after me, get to watch it as an 80s’ classic. Having our parents talk about it when they first saw it. Sigh… I’m sure with my future kids I will be doing the same thing with my kids about movies from my youth.
Now besides liking this movie because it’s an 80s’ classic, there are other reasons why I like this movie. First I really like the story. It is absolutely crazy. He accidentally goes back in time, to a time when his parents were teens and has to try and get back to the present day without screwing anything up. Also, his mom has the hots for him… What? How on earth did they come up with this plot? It is funny and strange and I love it. I also appreciate having Marty still keep a lot of his 80’s way of speaking and mannerisms in the movie. I mean even though he was told that he had to try and fit in as much as possible, he couldn’t really do it.
The other thing I really like is the characters and the character development. I like the changes that the characters go through in the movie. Marty changes the way he looks at his parents and his parents change the way that they act toward the people around them, including each other. I know that it is part of the plot, that his dad has to change, but the way that is was done and how much they had him change is amazing.
Overall this will continue to be a movie that I will reach to again and again. I would hope that all of you have watched this and loved it like I did.

This was quite an interesting documentary. There were things that I wasn’t aware of before watching this. First I enjoyed finding out how Imagine Dragons got started. I also was interested in Dan Reynolds’ background.
I really appreciate him wanting to try and help those that don’t have a voice in the Mormon church. It’s quite admirable to use his fame and position to try and help all those kids. Not only to do that, but to try and change the “system.” He saw that the Mormon church was hurting a lot of LGBTQ+ youth and he wanted to try and change things for the better. Even though in the end, things didn’t work out for the best, he is still going to continue with the fight.
This was definitely a documentary that I really liked and would recommend, especially for people who like Imagine Dragons. It would make you appreciate them more.

This is one of my favorite old classic Hollywood films. It is on AFI top 100 movies of all time (number 51) and it is something that should definitely be there. Speaking of AFI’s list, I am trying to watch a bunch of the movies that are on that list. I was to see why those movies in particular were chosen to be on that list. Also I want to see if they would be on my list of my top 100.
Now back to the movie. As I said before, it is one of my favorite classic films. There is something about this movie that I just understand completely. First thing that I really love about this movie is the story. Now this is about a girl who is getting married again and her ex-husband comes and brings reporters to her wedding. A lot of crazy stuff happens and in like 3 days and everything turns all right in the end.
Another thing I really like is the acting and the banter that goes on between the characters, especially between Kathrine Hepburn’s and Cary Grant’s characters. They are so evenly matched in their whit. It’s so entertaining to watch. I also loved the main characters little sister. She just wants to cause her sister trouble and it is quite funny.
Overall I really love this movie. If you haven’t watched it before, I highly recommend it.

Here are some more movies that I am curious about. Enjoy!
First: Mary Poppins Returns- Release Date: December 21st
For this movie I am both excited and hesitant for it. I am excited to see what they have done with the Mary Poppins story and how they have expanded with her story. I am excited to see Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda in the film. I am also excited the Dick Van Dike is going to be in this one as well. I am hesitant because I love the original so much that is going to hard to see something new about it. I am curious to see if it has the same message as the first one or if it will be different.
Next: Welcome to Marwen- Release Date: December 21st
I think this movie looks so cute. I think the use of dolls to help the main character through his struggles is fascinating. I also am excited to see Steve Carell in this roll. He has definitely had some awesome rolls lately that I really like. I also really like that there are also a lot of wonderful women actors that play important rolls for Steve’s character.
Last: Captain Marvel- Release Date: March 8th
I am so excited for this! I really enjoy the all the marvel movies. I am excited to see a long to see a young Nick Fury and how that will look. I am also excited for it so we can get closer to the part two of Infinity War.

This is a movie is something I will always enjoy watching. First thing that I need to talk about are some of the great performances that are in this movie. Of course the first one that would need to be brought up is Robin Williams. Just his monologue along will send shivers down your spine. It is perfectly delivered. Now his performance isn’t the only one that is really great. Stellan Skarsgard does an excellent job in this movie as well. When you first see his character and hear him talk, you are automatically filled with disdain for him.
Another great thing about this movie is the script. It was very well written and showed life as young adults in Boston in an interesting and imperfect light. Everyone in this movie has their difficulty in their life and they show everyone’s faults. The things they say give away so much of these characters.
Overall this is a great movie. It is a movie that I really don’t mind watching multiple times. It always puts a smile on my face at the end and I don’t think I will ever get tired of it.
