Sitting here in my bed, happily deciding to start a Harry Potter marathon after coming back from seeing Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, I have a lot on my mind from that movie. First thing I have to say is that I really did like the movie. I had a wonderful time, and I can’t wait until the other ones that will becoming out in the future. Now I know that I really only do reviews or try to do reviews to the best of my ability, but there was something that really annoyed the crap out of me before I even got to see the movie. I will rant for a paragraph and then I’m done.

There are somethings that really irked my soul. Now before even going to see the movie, I happened to see a review about the movie from Buzzfeed. Now I really wouldn’t call it at review and the title simply read: “With The Crimes of Grindelwald the Harry Potter franchise is officially eating itself alive.” Now with a title like that, I must say I was curious about what the review/ article was about. Now this really was barely a review. What this turned out to be was a giant Johnny Depp bashing. I think in the whole article there was a few paragraphs that kind of reviewed the movie. It was just about how Johnny Depp shouldn’t have been in the movie and how awful of an actor he is and all this crap that I really didn’t go to the article for. I wanted to really know why they thought that the franchise was “loosing it.” It talked about plot-holes and such that I didn’t really see were that grave. I mean there are three more movies a head of us and I’m sure that everything will make perfect sense in time. But 80% of the article talked about Depp. Now I understand all of the political stuff going on and the age of the #Metoo movement, but I watch movies to get away from all that. When you bring it to the front without really any actual comment about the actual movie, and the plot, shooting and acting in this movie, then congratulations you just wasted your time writing it and my time reading it. Like seriously, my time was completely wasted.

Okay, now on to the movie! For one I really, really liked it. I thought that I was a great addition to the world and we are slowly diving into ideas that we will learn more about in the future. The acting was wonderful and all the characters had my attention the whole movie. I really enjoyed the small banter between characters and the charm that Grindelwald has that leads to gaining all his followers. A young Dumbledore, played by Jude Law, was a wonderful addition into a pretty nice cast. I almost wished that there was more of young Dumbledore in the movie, but I know we will see more of him soon. This brought the Wizarding World into a point of where a divide is happening.

The only thing that I didn’t like about the movie was how dark the whole movie was. In the beginning I could barely tell what was going on. Then later in the film it got really dark. That is the only thing I really didn’t like.

Overall, I do want to see it again. I want to see if I can see any hints of things of things that only Harry Potter fans will understand or little things that would give future plots away.
